NEW POWER STEERING BRACKET FOR 292 CHEVY USING THE 1963-64 OR 1965-74 STYLE WATER PUMP.
BRACKET INCLUDES HARDWARE AND INSTRUCTIONS.
BRACKETS ARE PLAIN STEEL AND COME WITH HARDWARE & INSTRUCTIONS. THEY ARE IN
“READY TO PAINT” CONDITION. JUST WIPE DOWN WITH SOLVENT AND PAINT.
REQUIREMENTS FOR USE:
1) 292 ENGINE USING 1963-64 OR 1965-74 WATER PUMP.
2) SAGINAW POWER STEERING PUMP. (SEE NOTES BELOW).
3) APPROPRIATE UPPER ALTERNATOR BRACKET (SEE PICS).
4) 2 OR 3 GROOVE BALANCER & WATER PUMP PULLEY. (SEE NOTES BELOW).
5) NON-INTEGRAL CYLINDER HEAD.
WHAT THIS IS NOT FOR:
1) 292 ENGINES USING 1975-89 STYLE 292 WATER PUMPS. PLEASE SEE 10004 INSTEAD.
2) IF YOU ARE USING ONE OF THESE ENGINES IN A 1955 1ST SERIES OR OLDER TRUCK
OR A 1948 OR OLDER CAR, THEN PLEASE LOOK AT DIMENSIONAL DRAWING AND COMPARE.
YOU MAY NEED TO USE 10021 INSTEAD.
3) TRYING TO RUN BOTH PS & ALT ON SAME SINGLE BELT. NOT ENOUGH BELT WRAP ON ALT. (SEE NOTES BELOW).
4) NOT FOR USE ON LOW DECK (153 194 215 230 250) ENGINES. SEE 10002 INSTEAD.
5) DOES NOT WORK WITH INTEGRAL HEAD.
NOTES OF INTEREST:
PUMP CAN BE ADJUSTED FRONT TO BACK TO ALLOW FOR DIFFERENT PULLEY ARRANGEMENTS.
WORKS WITH STOCK & AFTERMARKET EXHAUST MANIFOLDS & HEADERS.
WORKS WITH BOTH 5-1/2″ & 7″ WATER PUMP PULLEY SIZES.
IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A 2 GROOVE WATER PUMP PULLEY AND DO NOT INTEND
TO CHANGE TO 2 GROOVES, THEN PLEASE SEE PART 10089 INSTEAD.
IF YOU HAVE 2 GROOVES ON WATER PUMP AND BALANCER AND INTEND TO ALSO USE AC,
PLEASE SEE 10089 INSTEAD. NEED THE AC BRACKET AS WELL? THEN SEE 10090 OR 10091.
TRYING TO RUN THIS AND YOUR ALTERNATOR OFF ONE BELT DOES NOT USUALLY WORK
BECAUSE YOU WON’T HAVE ENOUGH WRAP ON THE ALTERNATOR PULLEY. USE SEPARATE
BELTS AS SHOWN IN PICTURES.
WILL NOT WORK WITH THE LARGE UGLY UPPER ALTERNATOR BRACKET THAT BOLTS
TO THE HEAD. YOU NEED TO USE THE EARLIER “STRAP” TYPE, OR BUY ONE OF OUR
ALTERNATOR BRACKETS, PART 10000 OR 10022 OR 10022AA OR 10094.
WORKS WITH 1X4, 2X1 & 3X1 INTAKES, HOWEVER CARB TYPE, LINKAGE & FUEL LINES MAY CREATE CHALLENGES ON 3X1 SETUPS.
10089 MAY BE A BETTER CHOICE IF USING TRIPOWER.
PS PUMP NEEDS A STUD NEXT TO THE PRESSURE HOSE CONNECTION AS SHOWN. DO NOT USE A STUD AT ANY OTHER LOCATION.
KEYED SHAFT PUMPS ARE RECOMMENDED. 1969 TRUCK 6CYL PUMP WORKS WELL FOR REFERENCE.
SHAPE OF RESERVOIR ISN’T RELEVANT. BOTH “MILK JUG” AND “A-FRAME” STYLES WORK FINE.
